Together with the Italian illustrator Andrea Piano, Flyinghorse wants to donate you 5 stories, about the relationship between the horse and human beings. One for every Sunday of advent, until we get to celebrate the 5th one on Christmas eve together. Let’s take make a vow to take the best care of our loyal friends!
Once upon a time, more than 5000 years ago, two horses met on the first Sunday of Advent. Only a fence separating one from another in the wide and green roaring hills off a far and warm country. A gentle nickering of friendly recognition and welcome “Hi! Good, you’re here! Come talk with me!” coupled with an alert expression, raised head, ears pricked in each others direction. “Why are you locked inside this fences?” asks the wild horse. “I’m not locked, can’t you see I can run free and graze the whole day long?” replies the tamed horse. “How can you go and explore the world, from behind the fences?” “This is my whole world. There are other horses who are not allowed to see the fields, roll in the sunlight, they live in a tiny little stable the whole day long.” “Why?”. “Because humans decided so for them.”
Our wish for your first Sunday of Advent 2020 is for you to make the right decisions for your horses. They love you, take care of them.
As the second Sunday of Advent approaches, the tamed horse gets increasingly restless. For too long now, his new wild friend hasn’t shown up anymore. A feeling of sadness mixed with disappointment makes its way into his heart: “Why doesn’t he want to meet me anymore? Why doesn’t he come and see me?”, he thinks trotting impatiently along the fence. Finally, on the horizon, a small cloud of dust rises in the fresh morning air. The wild horse, barely recognizable, appears on the hills. His usual strength and majesty seem to have vanished. With a lame gait, he approaches the fence and collapses in front of his friend. The the two horses heads get close and a soft nickering seems to say: “I will take care of you forever, no matter what. Everything will be fine, I promise you”.
Our wish for this second Sunday of Advent is to take an example from the loyalty of our horses and to repay them equally. Especially in the most difficult moments.
On the morning of the third Sunday of advent a fresh breeze blows on the hills. Green leaves dance on the trees and the air carries the salt from the sea with it. The wild horse has regained his strength and begins to buck happily on the green expanses in front of the domesticated horse’s paddock. A big jump and the two friends are united in the fence. Stunned the domesticated horse asks:
“How did you do that?”
“I jumped, come I’ll teach you!”
“Don’t be scared, it’s beautiful, it’s like flying! Come on, I’m sure you can do it too. “
Encouraged by his friend, the domesticated horse, trusts him and overcomes the fence without any hesitation.
For this third Sunday of Advent we wish you to find the way to give courage to your horses. Always!
My name is Andrea Piano, but you will find me under @Mr_Steelo on social media. I am 27 years old and I graduated from the Naba academy in Milan in Graphic Design & Art Direction.
Art is my passion and since ever my desire is that of deepening my technical knowledge and artistic skills, getting myself involved in cultural realities different from mine. In a certain sense I like to interpret and synthesise reality through a little positive introspective loneliness.
“Look, a horse!”, goes my not very precise exclamation, during a recent trip through the Peruvian Andes. “Look a Peruvian Paso Horse!”, would have been more correct. But only after rushing out of the car, in the midst of the green expanses, to go and......29 February, 2020
