For its third edition in Rome, the Longines Global Champions Tour can count on the participation of horses and riders of extraordinary quality. From Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th September the Stadio dei Marmi Pietro Mennea, at the Foro Italico, will indeed open up to a spectacular show. As protagonists, the most renowned champions of the jumping scene. What to expect? Excellence and excitement in its pure state of mind and the highest level of attention to detail during this show organized by equestrian enthusiasts for equestrian enthusiasts around the world.

Rome is the last stage before the 2017 finals for the circuit that Jan Tops has created in 2006 and which, quite rightly, was immediately defined as ‘the Formula One of Equestrianism’. An innovative format for a great equestrian sporting event that radically transformed the competitive agonistic and organizational outlook of the jumping scene.
After the first 13 appointments of the LGCT Grand Prix and team competitions – the Global Champions League that debuted in 2016 – the rankings are still open and this for sure contributes to making the Roman weekend even more expected and interesting.
Entries are still work in progress but the first confirmations are important enough to define the scope of the event.
Unsurprisingly Peder Fredricson, Harrie Smolders – the current LGCT circuit leader – and Cian O’Connor have opened the dances right after climbing the podium of the European Championship in Gothenburg on Sunday August 27th. The extraordinary Alberto Zorzi, a Tops team rider, who finished fourth, comes right behind them. One more italian, Lorenzo De Luca, occupies the same position in the Longines FEI Ranking List, and he obviously is highly attended at the Stadio dei Marmi.
